Akbarjoojeh 19th | اکبرجوجه: Reviews & Ratings
As a Persian newly moved to Vancouver, this was my first experience trying a Persian restaurant here—and it was truly satisfying. It was a busy weekend day, but we only waited about 10 minutes to get a table. We ordered the Akbar Joojeh, their signature dish (and the restaurant’s namesake), and it was just as good as the original ones back home in Iran—tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with that rich pomegranate sauce. We also had the Sardast (lamb shoulder), which was incredibly well-cooked and literally melted in the mouth. The Kashk-e Bademjoon appetizer was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. It was quite crowded, so I couldn’t take photos of the space out of respect for privacy, but trust me—it’s beautifully designed with a modern Persian vibe. What really made the experience special was our host, Mojgan, who was so kind, warm, and attentive throughout. Overall, an excellent experience and definitely one of my new favorite spots in Vancouver.
Packed on a Tuesday night and well worth the hype, amaaaazing persian food. Generous portions with great flavor. Loved the kabab and jooje torsh dishes. On the pricier side, but worth it. The place is very beautiful, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to treat their non-persian friends/colleagues, as it would be a wholesome experience.
We had a wonderful experience at Akbar Joojeh tonight. The food was amazing — the jeweled rice with lamb neck was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our server, Hasti, was very professional and kind, and Kiarash’s respectful attitude and positive energy made the evening even more enjoyable. The whole team made us feel truly welcomed. Thank you for such a lovely night Appreciated Akbar Joje group
recently visited Akbar Joojeh Restaurant, and overall, it was a great experience. The food took a bit long to arrive (around 30 minutes), but honestly, it was worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I tried the chicken kebab, the Soltani steak kebab, and their shallot yogurt, and all of them were excellent. The bread is freshly made and served warm, which adds a really nice touch to the meal. The vibe of the place feels like an old traditional Iranian restaurant, cozy, nostalgic, and authentic. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality of the food makes up for it. The restaurant is usually full and crowded, so the service can be a little slow, but staff are friendly and do their best despite the rush. If you want to try real Iranian food, this is definitely one of the best places to go.
The food is great! Their Koobideh is so juicy and very similar to what you get in Iran! Their service is pretty good, but because they are busy they rather move quick! Their Barg is also very good! We liked their Akbar Joojeh as well! The sauce on that was great! Their Doogh was good, and the design of the restaurant is very nice! Highly recommended!
My wife and I were simply walking down the street with no specific plans when I suddenly caught an incredibly pleasant aroma of food in the air. It was one of those smells that immediately makes you hungry and curious. Without even realizing it, we started following the scent, walking a few blocks guided purely by our senses, until it led us straight to this place. From the very first moment, it felt like a discovery rather than a planned visit. As soon as we stepped inside, the atmosphere completely confirmed that we had made the right choice. The interior is warm, cozy, and authentic, with thoughtful details that make you feel comfortable and welcome. There is a calm, inviting energy here — not rushed, not loud — the kind of place where you want to sit, relax, and truly enjoy your meal. The food deserves special praise. Everything we tried was fresh, rich in flavor, and clearly prepared with care and respect for tradition. The bread was warm and perfectly textured, the dishes were well-balanced, aromatic, and satisfying without being heavy. You can tell immediately that quality ingredients are used and that the kitchen knows exactly what it is doing. Nothing felt rushed or careless — each plate felt intentional. The service was another highlight of our experience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, without being intrusive. They made us feel like guests rather than customers, which is something you don’t find everywhere these days. We never had to wait long, and any questions we had were answered with patience and a smile. What truly stood out for us was how naturally everything came together — the smell that drew us in, the welcoming atmosphere, the delicious food, and the sincere service. This wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience that stayed with us long after we left. Places like this are usually found by accident, and those are often the best ones. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this restaurant to friends and family. If you appreciate authentic food, a warm atmosphere, and a place with soul, this spot is absolutely worth visiting. Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you simply follow a good smell — and this was one of them.
A very special experience and first time trying Persian food. We saw many of them order a dish each but it’s too big for us. The vibe is great. I almost feel like in the ancient or in a movie. The only problem is they are too busy and did not serve dessert and keep asking us to finish to return table. We did see some Iranian got dessert tho. Best to make reservation.
